THE PIER LOCATION UNVEILING
THE GRAND OPENING
On September 30, 2017, the foundation hosted a Pier Location Unveiling event. Live Like Cole not only displayed the future location of the Cole Coppola Memorial Fishing Pier, but also donated funds and gifts to local youth organizations, such as John Carroll High School Football, Track, Cheerleading & SADD Club ($2,000); John Carroll High School Scholarship Fund ($1,500); St. Helen Catholic School Scholarship Fund ($1,500); Indian River Soccer Assocation ($1,000); Vero Beach Karate Assocation ($1,000); and donated 14 Wilson basketballs, a bag and equipment pump to Gifford Youth Achievement Center.
Cole was passionate about fishing and was an avid fisherman, inspiring the dream to create a safe place to fish. With the help from board members, donors, supporters, the City of Vero Beach and Florida Inland Navigational District (FIND), this dream became a reality. And what started as a safe place to fish, turned into an opportunity for members of the community to also make their mark permanently inscribed in the very treads making up the fishing pier. The pier, located in Riverside Park, serves the public at large by not only providing a new safe place for fishing in the Indian River Lagoon, but also creating a brand new marine habitat for fish and other marine life to thrive. It's a special place where one can go to enjoy the wildlife, be outdoors, remember loved ones or simply watch one of the many beautiful sunsets.
